WEI Hao:Market Structure of Chinese Imports and the Interdependency Between China and the Countries of Origin

发表于 baijinlan
Abstract: This paper constructs a new framework to measure the market structure of Chinese imports and the interdependency among China and its main source countries of imports. The results show that: since 2000, the share of low-technology manufactured goods in Chinese imports declined most, but the middle-technology manufactured goods owned the share with the largest ascensional range and became the first major import goods in China. Moreover, the share of all kinds of products exported to China in the total export of developing countries and developed countries increased. The export dependence of the Asia-Pacific Region on China was greater than that of other countries. The dependence of Chinese import on the developing countries was generally greater than that of the developing countries’ exports to China. The export dependence of Japan and South Korea on China was greater than the import dependence of China on them, but the export dependence of USA and Germany on China was weaker than the import dependence of China on them.
