Abstract: In order to evaluate China’s gains from opening-up economy, this paper constructs China’s input-occupancy-output model, measures the factor structure, energy consumption and CO2 emission in unit output, and compares the differences in the above three indicators between the export commodities and the domestic consumed commodities. Main results are as follows: (1) The factor structure of China’s unit output has been constantly optimizing from 1995 to 2009, and high skilled labor is getting more and more abundant; (2) the energy consumption and CO2 emission in unit output has been reduced significantly from 1995 to 2009, which means China has made some achievement in energy-saving and environmental protection; (3) the energy consumption and Co2 emission in unit export output has exceeded those in domestic consumed commodities, which means China has been bearing the transferring load of energy consumption and CO2 emission from other countries. So China should accelerate economic transformation and upgrading to reduce and eliminate the negative effect of opening-up.
