LI Qiang, ZHENG Jianghuai:Value Chain Upgrading of China's Manufacturing Industry Based on Intra-Product Specialization: Theoretical Assumptions and Empirical Analysis

发表于 baijinlan
Abstract: This paper builds a theoretical model based on intra-product specialization, and proposes three hypotheses which influence the value chain upgrading of China's manufacturing industry. By using panel data of China's 24manufacturing industries, this paper conducts empirical test on hypothesis proposition, and the results show that: the level of research and development, human capital, and institutional environment play significant roles in promoting the overall manufacturing sector; the scale of the industry plays a significant role in promoting technology-intensive and capital-intensive manufacturing value chain upgrading, but has no significant effect on overall manufacturing and labor-intensive manufacturing; FDI has a significant role in promoting the upgrading in overall manufacturing and labor-intensive manufacturing value chain, but has no significant impact on the technology-intensive and capital-intensive manufacturing; international division of labor participation has significant role in promoting overall manufacturing industry except labor-intensive manufacturing industry.
