GUO Guoqing, YAO Yanan:Process and Measurement of Value Co-creation under the Service-dominant Logic—A Preliminary Analysis based on the Perspective of Productivity

Abstract: According to service logic, customers and providers are co-creators of value. However, the 'value' in value co-creation, which needs new measurement, is different from the existing value perspectives. Productivity and value are the two sides of a coin, so value can be measured based on productivity. Firstly, the process of value co-creation under the service dominant logic is expounded based on the contrastive analysis of the value creation between good-dominant logic and service-dominant logic. Secondly, the paper finds that traditional productivity and service productivity are not available to measure the value co-creation, due to not considering the connection between customers and providers. Finally, the paper explores the measurement for value co-creation through joint productivity based on the combination of productivity and value. This paper concludes that joint productivity gain should be calculated firstly, then the monetary value of joint productivity gain will be shared in terms of price mechanism. This research provides a new perspective and theoretical basis for the measurement of value co-creation under the service-dominant logic.
